Each new service we’ve introduced has been driven by our commitment to helping our clients. We added NAID-certified destruction services to ensure the secure disposal of stored paper and media. As data increasingly transitioned to digital formats, we responded by offering secure data center services and network protection solutions. Our long-standing relationship with the entertainment industry led us to expand into event services and media digitization. Our growth has always been guided by one principle: putting our clients first.
Underground Vaults & Storage, Inc. was officially incorporated on June 11, 1959, by a group of visionary business owners who recognized the need for a secure location to protect and manage information.
Their national search for the ideal site ended with the selection of a Salt Mine in Hutchinson, Kansas. The facility, developed from mined-out space, provided the perfect environment for the services they envisioned.
Centrally located and securely protected 650 feet underground, our first facility is perfect for storing client data and valuable items with its constant temperature and humidity. This initial success spurred growth through expansion and acquisition, leading us to operate across multiple states and countries while developing several specialized divisions. UV&S remains family-owned, upholding the original vision of protecting our clients’ most important assets and their reputation, while providing services that help them succeed.
The Salt Mine facility is opened in Hutchinson, KS.
1959Our first above ground facility is opened to meet the needs of our growing client base.
1985
Our third facility is opened in a limestone mine and specializes in storage for the movie industry.
1986The first of many acquisitions provided duplication services in Hutchinson for microfilm and microfiche.
1987As growth continued, we opened our second above ground facility.
1987We expanded into a new market with above ground storage and underground vault storage for media.
2001Another underground storage facility is opened in a limestone mine.
2003Located in Louisville, with this purchase we added additional data backups and disaster recovery services.
2009
This purchase adds four new service locations, Hays, Manhattan, Salina & Wichita, Kansas, that offer NAID Certified Shredding for paper, non-paper and hard drives.
2014Another acquisition in Louisville, further growing our storage operations underground.
2016With this purchase we added Data Center Services, Managed Services, and Professional IT Services through a technology division located in Wichita, later re-branded to UV&S Technology.
2016Our first international purchase added storage facilities and media recycling services in London, England, to better serve our international client base.
2018Enhanced the service offerings of the Technology division by adding IaaS.
2019
Expanded our ambient and climate-controlled storage footprint in the UK. Also added a new service, event marketing and branding.
2019Increased our shredding services footprint in Kentucky.
2021To better serve our clients in the entertainment industry, we opened a facility near Hollywood.
2021We expanded the event services we offer to include design, construction, printing, and exhibit installation for a wide range of industries; helping with festivals, markets, exhibitions, and conferences around the world.
2023We added another storage facility in Oklahoma City.
2023 
The purchase of a metal design and fabrication company that supported the growth of our Event Services division.
2023
A Film Restoration and Digital Services company in London is purchased to further support our media clients and to offer a diverse collection of stock shots for filmmakers and commercial projects.
